The Iberia Parish Parks and Recreation Department operates 18 parks throughout the parish, totaling approximately 400 acres of green space available to the public.  Ballfields and courts are available, including softball, baseball, soccer, football, tennis, pickleball and cornhole.  The department also oversees the management of the Isle of Iberia RV Resort which is a RV campground that has a lazy river and pool.  During the summer season, the public can purchase public swim passes on designated days and times (public swim passes are limited and or sold on a 1st come, 1 serve).

 

The department maintains 32 ball fields (23 lighted), 10 Tennis Courts (8 lighted), 16 Pickleball Courts (10 lighted), 10 outdoor Basketball Courts, 1 indoor Gym, Football Fields, Soccer Fields as well as playground equipment and numerous picnic shelter and recreation areas. 

 

In addition, many of the department’s facilities are available to rent for events, wedding receptions and programs.

 

The department’s operating budget is primarily funded by a 1/4 -cent parish sales and use tax, as well as income from facilities, concessions and programs.

 

The Iberia Parish Recreation and Playground Commission sets departmental policy and approves the yearly budget.  The commission is composed of 7 members, 3 are appointed by the Iberia Parish Council, 2 by the City of Jeanerette, and 1 each by the Town of Delcambre and the Village of Loreauville.

 

The Iberia Parish Parks and Recreation Department is a member of the Louisiana Recreation and Park Association (LRPA), and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA).
